Classical Guitarist Luther Enloe - Estudio 5 by Fernando Sor
Classical Guitarist Luther Enloe - Estudio 5 by Fernando Sor www.enloeguitarstudio.com I teach guitar at Berry College in Rome, Georgia: www.berry.edu This is the third and final clip from the Tuesday Music Club recital that I played in Great Falls, Montana, way back in 1994. This was probably my first public recital on the classical guitar out side of a university setting. As you can see from the nativity scene it was December and I had just finished my first semester as a guitar major at the University of Georgia studying with John Sutherland. Fernando Sor (1778-1839) was one of the guitar's greatest composers. He wrote over four hundred pieces for the guitar as well as opera, ballet and other musical genres. Sor's compositional style is similar to that of Haydn and Mozart. This short, lyrical piece has been used as background music in commercials and is one of Sor's more popular studies. This piece was originally published in Sor's set of twenty-four exercises Opus 35. Today it is better known as Estudio 5 due to Segovia's publishing of twenty Sor studies in 1945. This is a beautiful piece of music and I hope that you enjoy the performance.

Follow his musical analysis effortlessly using the interactive score; observe his technique up close with new picture-in-a-picture content. Focus is placed on isolation strategies and other learning techniques all students benefit from, regardless of level. Masa emphasizes the fundamental importance of playing in time, and much consideration is given to interpreting Sor's intentions, particularly in the challenging passages. Alternative approaches are examined closely, including Segovia's interpretation. Much time is dedicated to fingering, shifts and appoggiatura, techniques needed to play Sor's Magic Flute successfully. Masakazu Ito is recognized as one of today's top guitarists ...

Estudio No. 5 in B Minor by Fernando Sor performed by Eric Henderson
Estudio No. 5 in B Minor by Fernando Sor performed by Eric Henderson www.erichenderson.org This video is performed by Eric Henderson, Estudio No. 5 in B Minor by Fernando Sor. Fernando Sor was a Spanish guitarist and composer. Fernando Sors peers considered him to be the best guitarist in the world, and his works for guitar have been widely played and reprinted since his death in 1839. Fernando Sors works for guitar ranges from pieces for advanced players, such as Variations on a Theme of Mozart, to beginner pieces such as the first few of his instructional book Méthode pour la guitar or Guitar Method. Eric Henderson was invited to Spain to become one of only three people to study privately with the master guitarist Andres Segovia. Henderson spent the next 4 years in Spain learning the intricacies of the classical guitar, while playing as much as 12 hours a day. In addition to Segovia, Henderson has studied guitar with Christopher Parkening, Angel Romero, Ernesto Bitetti, Emilio Pujol and Antonia Morales. He has studied Baroque interpretation with Ton Koopman and Henk Dekker, and theory and composition with Aureo Hererro. While Eric was in Spain he also had the honor of studying with the composer Federico Moreno Torroba, perfecting the interpretation of Torrobas Sonatina in A.

Fernando Sor: Study in B minor, Opus 35, No. 22
Fernando Sor: Study in B minor, Opus 35, No. 22 Fernando Sor: Study in B minor, Opus 35, No. 22 To me, operating on a patient is much like giving a classical guitar performance: It demands skill, control and a sense of what the music wants to convey. Each note (surgical movement) counts and the careful linking of notes (flow of surgery) without interruption, the legato in musical parlance, is the glue (stitches) that reflects the beauty of the piece (surgical result). The performer (surgeon) can deliver only if he is in total control of his inner tensions so as not to transmit them to his fingertips.
