This concert was third symphonic one from the concert cycle named "1311 - 2011, Prague as a cultural crossing of Europe". The project is supported by the Prague City municipal grant program. Muzeum Kampa (www.muzeumkampa.cz) is a unique project of the "Nadace Jana a Medy Mládkových" fund. During the preparatory phase were totally reconstructed buildings of so called "Sovovy mlýny" (Sova´s mills) on one of the most beautiful river-sites in Prague, the Kampa Isle. Thanks to the enormous effort of Mládek man and wife is the renowned complex one of the dominants on Vltava river and - last but not least - the unique gallery of modern art with very valuable collections. Josef Mysliveček (Il divino Boemo - the apppreciating title due to his success on the Italian operatic stages) was born just here, in so called Sova´s mills. His father was very respectable Prague miller and his gfted son gained enormous respect in the pre-classical musical world. The Quattro Orchestra hold the concert here to remind 230 years since the Mysliveček´s death in Roma (1781), accenting his very close relations to Mozart. Mysliiveček´s violin concerto was written for Vienna and so, as the next string concerto we put Haydn´s piece in the same key, D major. Mozart´s "small" g ...

Carlo Bergonzi - Che gelida manina (Live) Carlo Bergonzi (b. 1924) is an Italian operatic tenor. Although he performed and recorded various bel canto and verismo roles, he is above all associated with the operas of Giuseppe Verdi, including a large number of his lesser-known works which he helped revive. Essentially a lirico-spinto tenor, Bergonzi is greatly admired for his pointed diction, beautiful legato and elegant phrasing. Bergonzi here sings the famous aria 'Che gelida manina' from La Boheme, in a live performance. This is one of my favorite renditions, absolutely spectacular performance by Maestro Bergonzi. Bergonzi was still singing and giving masterclasses as of 2005. When I visited China that year, a friend of mine and I attended Bergonzi's masterclasses in Beijing...Bergonzi's voice is still in good shape and sounds fantastic!
