Well, nobody could ever accuse either myself, or my good friend Ian Schwindt of not being pure, unadulterated "brassholes." We were very fortunate to have not only great friends at WSU who were like-minded in our pursuits of great brass music, but also having at our disposal an amazingly talented church organist, my mother Genevieve Bishop!

It should go without saying that this concert was extremely enjoyable to perform. I'm terribly sorry that the video quality of this concert is very poor. I did, however, lay the digital sound over the video, so at least the audio is acceptable. Believe it nor not, this entire recital was given after having only one hour-long rehearsal....a full week before the recital! I believe that is a testament to the outstanding musicians and friends we had at WSU.

Not only that, but how lucky were we to have a venue like Wiedemann Recital Hall -- a building solely constructed to house the Great Marcussen Organ? Built in 1986-87, it was the first Marcussen organ built in North America by the Danish firm. For more information, please see:

All the pieces of the "Wedding Suite" were arranged by Ian Schwindt for his own Wedding Ceremony of July 1, 1995. Yes, in fact the wedding had three antiphonal brass choirs and organ. It was the greatest wedding music I'd ever heard until this last May, when I put together the greatest wedding music of ALL-TIMES for my baby sister Katie for her wedding day.

American composer Tom Trapp translated Armin van Buurens tracks into classical compositions, which were played by the Noord Nederlands Orchestra on March 5th, 2010 in Groningen. The Invierno Porteno (Winter) by Astor Piazzolla performed by the Dutch Mandolin Chamber Orchestra Het CONSORT conducted by Alex Timmerman, Amsterdam, March 20th at the 2010 Festival of the Dutch Mandolin Union. Astor Piazzolla (1921-1992) is especially known for being one of the greatest Argentinean bandonean performers. He started to play the bandoneon at a very early age and played when only thirteen years old with Carlos Gardél and his band. Once his extraordinary talent was discovered he joint the band of Anibal Tróila, the master of the classical tango. After Tróila´s death Piazzolla went to Paris to study with a government scholarship under Nadia Boulanger. Probably thanks to her Piazzolla became aware of the possibilities of the music of South America and, more particular, the tango music of his homeland Argentina. From this time Piazzolla´s reformed the traditional tango into a style that was called the 'tango nuevo'. Back in his homeland he was soon recognized the leading figure of the genre and it didn´t take long before his international breakthrough became a fact. In 1973 he moved again to Europe; this time to Italy where he started a recording project that took five years to complete. The Invierno Porteno (Winter) by Astor Piazzolla was composed in 1970 as the third Tango of the Cuatro Estaciones Porteñas also known as The Four Seasons of Buenos Aires.
