VIOLETTA (sola)
È strano! È strano! In core
scolpiti ho quegli accenti!
Saria per me sventura un serio amore?
Che risolvi, o turbata anima mia?
Null'uomo ancora t'accendeva -- O gioia
ch'io non conobbi, esser amata amando!
E sdegnarla poss'io
per l'aride follie del viver mio?
Ah, fors'è lui che l'anima
solinga ne' tumulti
godea sovente pingere
de' suoi colori occulti!
Lui che modesto e vigile
all'egre soglie ascese,
e nuova febbre accese,
destandomi all'amor.
A quell'amor ch'è palpito
dell'universo intero,
misterioso, altero,
croce e delizia al cor!
Follie! follie! Delirio vano è questo!
Povera donna, sola,
abbandonata in questo
popoloso deserto
che appellano Parigi.
Che spero or più?
Che far degg'io? Gioire,
di voluttà ne' vortici perir.
Gioir, gioir!
Sempre libera degg'io
folleggiare di gioia in gioia,
vo' che scorra il viver mio
pei sentieri del piacer.
Nasca il giorno, o il giorno muoia,
sempre lieta ne' ritrovi,
a diletti sempre nuovi
dee volare il mio pensier.

Trailer: The Sleeping Beauty (Tchaikovsky)
The Sleeping Beauty is one of the most-loved of classical ballets, combining in a single work all the charms and virtuosity that ballet has to offer. Favourite highlights of music and dance run through it, and include Tchaikovsky's famous and lyrical Waltz and the Rose Adage as Aurora meets in turn her four princely suitors. This famous staging was created for the The Royal Ballet in 1946, and revived for the 75th anniversary celebrations of Company in 2006. Luscious designs bring to life the royal court, the panoramic journey of the Prince to the overgrown castle and the great celebratory dances (including other famous figures from fairytale) of the happy ending. A great showcase for the Company's talents and a living milestone in its history, this Sleeping Beauty's style and visual splendour are unique to The Royal Ballet. The Royal Ballet's Sleeping Beauty

Beau Soir by Claude Debussy poem by Paul Bourget
"Beau Soir" is a French art song written by Claude Debussy. It is a setting of a poem by Paul Bourget. Debussy was seventeen or eighteen when he wrote this song (ca.1880), and his music was marked by the aesthetics of the period. "Beau Soir" has been recorded by many singers, including Barbra Streisand (on her album Classical Barbra), Maggie Teyte, Jean Stilwell, Véronique Gens,Christian Tatonetti (seen on this video) Giuseppe de Luca, Dietrich Fischer-Dieskau, and Jessye Norman Christian Tatonetti was born in Montreal. itunes.apple.com Helived for ten year son Salt Spring Island, and now resides in Victoria. Debussy: Beau Soir (sung by Streisand)
This is probably the best track from the CD, Classical Barbra. Claus Ogerman conducted the orchestra. The lyrics are in French, and a basic translation is: When the rivers are rosy in the setting sun, And a warm shiver runs over the wheat fields, Advice to be happy seems to rise up from things And climb toward the troubled heart. Advice to taste the charm of being in the world While one is young and the evening is beautiful, For we are going away, as this stream goes away: The stream to the sea, we to the grave Visuals are by Doug Ordunio

Allegro appassionato -- Andante un poco Adagio -- Allegretto grazioso -- Vivace During Clara Schumann's soirée, held on 13 November, 1894, Brahms confided in her that he no longer wrote for the public, but only for himself. This was no surprise to Clara because she already knew that Brahms's precursors to his late 'Autumnal' works for clarinet, his twenty piano pieces, opus 116 -119, were predominantly reflective, introspective and deeply personal.
