Jean Sibelius - Finlandia
Genius guy. Love this piece. London Symphony Orchestra. Grew up hearing Finlandia, but didnt understand its real meaning until I spent some time abroad. For most Finns this is sacred stuff. TomBarristerX commented: "I finally tracked this down. This is indeed the London Symphony, and the conductor is Philip Gibson. It was recorded in 1991. Maestro Gibson has over four decades of experience as a violinist, conductor, and teacher. He has appeared frequently on BBC broadcasts and has recorded frequently. Mr. Gibson is currently the music director of the Barnet Symphony, an amateur group in London. This work appears on the ABM CD "Scenes and Images". (Thanks for clearing that up).

Amelie - La Valse D'Amelie (Piano)
Composed by Yann Teiersen. All the Amelie music bought Yann Teirsen in limelight and now he is compared with other musicians like Chopin, Erik Satie, Phillip Glass and Michael Nyman. His music is recognized by its use of a large variety of instruments in relatively minimalist compositions, often with a touch of either European classical music or french folk music, using primarily the piano, accordion or violin together with instruments like the melodica, xylophone, toy piano, ondes martenot, harpsichord and typewriter This is one my fav number from Amelie. Apart from the song this movie is truly amazing. I should say a must watch

Art Tatum plays Chopin (Valse in C# Minor, Op. 64, No. 2)
Vladimir Horowitz once said that if Art Tatum ever took up classical music seriously, Horowitz would quit the next day. This was recorded on a cheap tape recorder at somebody's home, so pardon the sound quality.

Chopin Valse Op.64 No2, classical guitar-Da Vynci
revver.com This is my humble version of Frédéric Chopin's Valse Opus 64 Number 2, originally in C# minor, composed in 1846-47, published in 1847-48, and dedicated to Baroness de Rothschild. Transcribed to classical guitar by Richard Yates, published in 2001. I was really impressed by Virginia Luque's rendition,so I decided to have a try on the piece too. This is a different version from Virginia Luque's, but it is, still, quite a fun piece to play. It is not an easy piece, but a fun one! Enjoy!

Tristezas de um Violão (Garoto)
"Tristezas de um Violão" Music by Aníbal Augusto Sardinha (better known as "Garoto") I had another version of this posted some time ago (called "Choro Triste") but i hadn't got it quite right so I removed it and re-did it here. There were basic rhythmic ideas that were wrong. Once I had heard Garoto himself playing it as well as Paulo Bellinati I corrected those parts and here it is. Thing is, this piece is a real hand-torturer. Though this take isn't perfect, I kind of just want to be done with it for a while and let my poor left thumb rest. I learned this from a book called "The Complete Laurindo Almeida Anthology of Guitar Solos" where it's called "Choro Triste". In print and available from Mel Bay. A very very nice resource. It is also available in Paulo Bellinati's transcription through gspguitar dot com. Just as an aside the version by Garoto I heard is available on itunes and features him playing electric guitar (!) or it may be that he's got a pickup on his regular guitar and is playing through a little amp. Pretty strange and different sounding for this style of music. Taylor NS54-CE, hybrid classical
