In his score, Tchaikovsky supposedly wrote, "The larger the string orchestra, the better will the composer's desires be fulfilled." Serenade for Strings has 4 movements: I. Pezzo i forma di sonatina: Andante non troppo; Allegro moderato; this was an homage to Mozart II. Valse: Moderato; Tempo di valse III. Élégie: Larghetto elegiaco IV.
