La donna è mobile
Qual piuma al vento
Muta d'accento

E strano! E strano!...Ah, fors'è lui che l'anima...Follie! Follie!...Sempre libera
Orchestra sinfonica di Torino della RAI
Conducted by Gabriele Santini

VIOLETTA (sola)
È strano! È strano! In core
scolpiti ho quegli accenti!
Saria per me sventura un serio amore?
Che risolvi, o turbata anima mia?
Null'uomo ancora t'accendeva -- O gioia
ch'io non conobbi, esser amata amando!
E sdegnarla poss'io
per l'aride follie del viver mio?
Ah, fors'è lui che l'anima
solinga ne' tumulti
godea sovente pingere
de' suoi colori occulti!
Lui che modesto e vigile
all'egre soglie ascese,
e nuova febbre accese,
destandomi all'amor.
A quell'amor ch'è palpito
dell'universo intero,
misterioso, altero,
croce e delizia al cor!
Follie! follie! Delirio vano è questo!
Povera donna, sola,
abbandonata in questo
popoloso deserto
che appellano Parigi.
Che spero or più?
Che far degg'io? Gioire,
di voluttà ne' vortici perir.
Gioir, gioir!
Sempre libera degg'io
folleggiare di gioia in gioia,
vo' che scorra il viver mio
pei sentieri del piacer.
Nasca il giorno, o il giorno muoia,
sempre lieta ne' ritrovi,
a diletti sempre nuovi
dee volare il mio pensier.
ALFREDO (sotto al balcone)
Amore, amor è palpito...
VIOLETTA
Oh!
ALFREDO
...dell'universo intero --
VIOLETTA
Oh amore.
ALFREDO
Misterioso, misterioso, altero,
croce, croce e delizia,
croce e delizia, delizia al cor.

Wedding March from A Midsummer Nights Dream Mendelssohn
WSU Brass and Organ Recital
Organized by
Andrew Bishop, Trumpet
Ian Schwindt, Trombone
Wiedemann Recital Hall
Wichita State University
April 8, 1996
Well, nobody could ever accuse either myself, or my good friend Ian Schwindt of not being pure, unadulterated "brassholes." We were very fortunate to have not only great friends at WSU who were like-minded in our pursuits of great brass music, but also having at our disposal an amazingly talented church organist, my mother Genevieve Bishop!
It should go without saying that this concert was extremely enjoyable to perform. I'm terribly sorry that the video quality of this concert is very poor. I did, however, lay the digital sound over the video, so at least the audio is acceptable. Believe it nor not, this entire recital was given after having only one hour-long rehearsal....a full week before the recital! I believe that is a testament to the outstanding musicians and friends we had at WSU.
Not only that, but how lucky were we to have a venue like Wiedemann Recital Hall -- a building solely constructed to house the Great Marcussen Organ? Built in 1986-87, it was the first Marcussen organ built in North America by the Danish firm. For more information, please see:
http://www.marcussen-son.dk
All the pieces of the "Wedding Suite" were arranged by Ian Schwindt for his own Wedding Ceremony of July 1, 1995. Yes, in fact the wedding had three antiphonal brass choirs and organ. It was the greatest wedding music I'd ever heard until this last May, when I put together the greatest wedding music of ALL-TIMES for my baby sister Katie for her wedding day.
Program:
Introduction ("Sunrise") -- Richard Strauss
From Also Sprach Zarathustra, Op. 30
WEDDING SUITE
- Seating of the Parents: Jesu, Joy of Man's Desiring (J.S. Bach)
- Processional: Hornpipe from Water Music Suite in D (G.F. Handel)
- Entrance of the Bride:
Fanfare "Abblasen" (G. Reiche)
Prelude from Te Deum (M.A. Charpentier)
- Recessional: Wedding March from A Midsummer Night's Dream (F. Mendelssohn)
Toccata (Charles-Marie Widor)
From Organ Symphony No. 5
Feierlicher Einzug (Richard Strauss)
Musicians:
Genevieve Bishop, Organ
Trumpets: Andrew Bishop, Gerald Brandt, Bret Goter, Mark Boren, Paul Hudson, Laura Bornholdt
Horns: Susan Snipes, Schuyler Laverentz, Brady Finch, Jeb Wallace, Miah Schneider, Guy Vollen
Trombones: Ian Schwindt, Matt Blauer, Jeff Luttrell, Sean Ormerod
Tuba: Raymond Linkous
Timpani: Phil Merz
Conductor: Jeffrey Bishop

David Garrett - Czardas by Vittorio Monti
Csárdás by Vittorio Monti - David Garrett performing at Hannover Concert on May 21, 2009. *** David Garrett was born as David Bongartz in Aachen, Germany to an American mother and a German father. When Garrett was four years old, his father bought a violin for his older brother. The young Garrett took an interest and soon learned to play. A year later, he took part in a competition and won first prize. By the age of seven, he was playing once a week in public. He studied violin at the Lubeck Conservatoire. At the age of 12, Garrett began working with the distinguished Polish violinist Ida Haendel, often traveling to London and other European cities to meet her. At the age of 13, Garrett recorded two CDs, appeared on German and Dutch television, and gave a concert in the residence of the Federal Republic of Germany President, the Villa Hammerschmidt, at Dr. von Weizsäckers personal invitation. He was offered the use of the famous Stradivarius "San Lorenzo", which is among the best instruments of the "golden period". At the age of 14, as the youngest soloist ever, Garrett signed an exclusive contract with Deutsche Grammophon Gesellschaft. Aged 17, he played with the Munich Philharmonic Orchestra under the direction of Zubin Mehta in Delhi and Mumbai in concerts marking the 50th anniversary of Indias Independence. Two years later, Garrett played with the Rundfunk-Sinfonieorchester in Berlin, under the direction of Rafael Frühbeck de Burgos, and was hailed by critics. This ...

Vittorio Monti: Csárdás (Jan Van Hoecke and Pieter Dhoore)
Jan Van Hoecke (recorder), Pieter Dhoore (piano) A Csárdás is a Hungarian dance originating about 1835. The csárdás had slow sections (lassan or lassú) and fast ones (friska or friss); the former were in a heavy 4/4 metre that suggested dignity, pride and (often) grief, while the latter could achieve extremely fast tempos and was danced with abandon. The csárdás as a popular form became a staple of the Hungarian Gypsy repertory. The distance between csárdás and its folk roots is illustrated by the fact that one of the most famous examples of the genre, Csárdás for violin and piano, was composed by an Italian, Vittorio Monti (1868-1922). Here the violin part is played on a sopranino recorder. チャルダッシュリコーダーBlockflöte Flauta dolça 直笛 Zobcová flétna Blokfløjte Plokkflööt 木笛 Flauta dulce pico flute diritto Bekfluto 牧童笛 Flûte à bec Blokkfløyte リコーダー Flet prosty Flauta doce Misk'i sirinka Блокфлейта Recorder Zobcová flauta Kljunasta flavta Blockflöjt Blokflüt Блокфлейта 牧童笛 直笛 리코더 Blokfluit Blokkflauta Flauto dolce Tibia recta Furulya Blockflütt חלילית Čardáš チャールダーシュ Чардаш Czardasz Čardaš Czardas 夏得西 リコーダー czardas czardaz csardaz csardas チャルダッシュ classical ワールドミュージック folk world music Piano 民謡

Offenbach - Barcarolle , from 'The Tales of Hoffmann'
Title : Jacques Offenbach , Barcarolle , from 'The Tales of Hoffmann' From Wikipedia , Les contes d'Hoffmann (in English: The Tales of Hoffmann) is an opera by Jacques Offenbach. It was first performed in Paris, at the Opéra-Comique, on February 10, 1881. The libretto was written by Jules Barbier, based on three short stories by ETA Hoffmann. ETA Hoffmann himself is a character in the opera just as he often is in his stories. The stories upon which the opera is based are Der Sandmann,Rath Krespel, and Das verlorene Spiegelbild. The opera contains a prologue, three acts and an epilogue. Offenbach did not live to see his opera performed, since he died on October 5, 1880, just over four months before its premiere. Before his death, Offenbach had completed the piano score and orchestrated the prologue and the first act. Since he did not entirely finish the writing, many different versions of this opera emerged, some bearing little resemblance to the original work. The version performed at the opera's premiere was that by Ernest Guiraud, who completed Offenbach's scoring and wrote the recitatives. The Barcarolle The most famous aria from the opera is the "Barcarolle" (Belle nuit, ô nuit d'amour), which is performed in Act 2. Curiously, the aria was not written by Offenbach with Les Contes d'Hoffmann in mind. He wrote it as a ghost-song in the opera Les fées du Rhin (which premiered in Vienna on February 8, 1864 as Die Rheinnixen). Offenbach died with Les contes d'Hoffmann ...

Vanessa Mae - 'The Sabre Dance' by Aram Khachaturian
Vanessa Mae - The Sabre Dance' by Aram Khachaturian (video) The Saber Dance (Armenian: Սուսերով Պար) is a movement in the final act of the Armenian composer Aram Khachaturian's ballet Gayane, completed in 1942. It evokes a whirling war dance in an Armenian dance, where the dancers display their skill with sabers. Due to its exceptionally exciting rhythm, "The Saber Dance" established a place for itself in common concert practice, leading also to various adaptations in popular music. In its middle section it uses an Armenian folk song from Gyumri, Armenia. *** Vanessa-Mae, born 27 October 1978, coincidentally shares her birthday with famed violinist Niccolò Paganini, who was born 196 years earlier on 27 October 1782. Vanessa-Mae began playing piano at the age of three and violin at five. She was particularly famous in the United Kingdom throughout her childhood making regular appearances on television (for example on Blue Peter) mostly involving classical music and conservative style. According to Guinness World Records, she is the youngest soloist to record both the Beethoven and Tchaikovsky violin concertos, a feat she accomplished at the age of thirteen.[1] During this time she attended the Francis Holland School in central London. Vanessa-Mae made her international professional debut at the Schleswig-Holstein Musik Festival in Germany in 1988, and also during 1988 made her concerto debut on stage with the Philharmonia Orchestra in London. ROSSINI The Italian Girl in Algiers
Ploiesti Philharmonic Orchestra Conductor: Romeo Rimbu. L'italiana in Algeri (The Italian Girl in Algiers) is an operatic dramma giocoso in two acts by Gioachino Rossini to an Italian libretto by Angelo Anelli, based on his earlier text set by Luigi Mosca. Rossini wrote L'Italiana in Algeri when he was 21. The opera was composed in either 18 or 27 days, depending on which source one believes (Rossini, not surprisingly, pegged it at 18). The opera is notable for Rossini's mixing of opera seria style in opera buffa. The overture is widely recorded and performed today, known for its distinct opening of slow, quiet pizzicato basses, leading to a sudden loud burst of sound from the full orchestra. This "surprise" hearkens an early admiration for Joseph Haydn, whose Symphony No. 94 in G major, "The Surprise Symphony", is so named for the same shocking, semi-comic affect.

Mendelssohn :Symphony No.4 in A, 'Italian', 1st movement
Title : Felix Mendelssohn :Symphony No.4 in A, 'Italian', 1st movement Date : 1838 From Wikipedia ,The Symphony No. 4 in A major, Op. 90, commonly known as the Italian, is an orchestral symphony written by German composer Felix Mendelssohn. The work has its origins, like the composer's Scottish Symphony and the orchestral overture The Hebrides (Fingal's Cave), in the tour of Europe which occupied Mendelssohn from 1829 to 1831. Its inspiration is the colour and atmosphere of Italy. The Italian Symphony was completed in 1833, and was first performed in London at a Royal Philharmonic Society concert. However, Mendelssohn remained unsatisfied with the composition and even wrote an alternate version of the second, third, and fourth movements. He never published the symphony, which only appeared in print after his death. The piece is scored for 2 flutes, 2 oboes, 2 clarinets, 2 bassoons, 2 horns, 2 trumpets, timpani and strings. It is in four movements: Allegro vivace Andante con moto Con moto moderato Saltarello: Presto The joyful first movement, in sonata form, is followed by an impression in D minor of a religious procession the composer witnessed in Naples. The third movement is a minuet and trio, while the final movement (which is in the minor key throughout) incorporates dance figurations from the Roman saltarello and the Neapolitan tarantella. A typical performance lasts about half an hour.
