Ouverture *George Philipp Telemann's Wassermusik (commonly known as 'Hamburger Ebb und Fluth' -- an oblique reference to the local method of sewage disposal!) was composed for the 100th anniversary of Hamburg's admiralty, 1723. Each of the movements picture the sea in all it's moods and characterized figures from the world of ancient mythology who would have been familiar to any educated seafarer.
