Clare plays Simple Etude #6 by Leo Brouwer

Clare learned the first part of Etude #6 in one week and the chord progression of the second part during her guitar lesson. She has only been playing Classical guitar for four months (when this video was made). When she began taking lessons from me, she only played a few chords and did no play any classical guitar pieces. In just four months Clare completed the Sagreras Book Level One plus she learned three Brouwer Etudes! Now she has already learned a few Sagreras pieces from Book II. During lessons, we study a new piece by practicing one hand at a time. Once fingerings and positions are clear we play using both hands. It is usual that the students can read well and play a new piece during the lesson. I have a few students that are following Clare's foot steps by practicing this way. I am very pleased to see these students learning so fast. Raymond Lohengrin 1/2008
