He was the most famous "Minnesinger (love song writer)" of the Gothic medieval period. He is the only Minne singer, whose songs made it over 300 years to be printed - in different versions according to the area they had travelled to. It was one of my favourite songs of my childhood. This composition/transcription had been part of a program dedicated to the concert venue, the Cathedral Chamber at Jenolan Caves, Australia, reputed for the world's purest acoustics. Performed by Georg Mertens on 21 June 2008. From 1996 to 2013 Georg performed there the longest series of cello concerts - 200 regular solo cello concerts at one place!
