The Young Israel Philharmonic Orchestra Plays Beethoven's 6th Symphony

http://www.jmc.co.il The Young Israel Philharmonic Orchestra (YIPO) Twice a year all the outstanding young players in Israel assemble and form The Young Israel Philharmonic Orchestra. For two weeks the musicians live and work together, form friendships and go on a challenging and gratifying journey to become an excellent symphonic orchestra. The orchestra gives the countrys finest young talents the passion for playing in an orchestra, exposes them to some of the best symphonic repertoire, and provides them with an excellent professional training, necessary for their future careers. The YIPO is the crowning glory of the Jerusalem Music Centre's (JMC) educational activities. The JMC is an advanced training centre, dedicated to nurturing Israel's finest young talents, as well as encouraging school children to play and appreciate classical music. The JMC provides outstanding young musicians with unique opportunities to learn from, and be inspired by the very best Israeli and international musicians, through master classes, regular chamber music sessions and intensive summer courses. The orchestra was founded by Hanan Susz and Bruno Landesberg together with the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra (IPO), and in the last few years has been supported also by The Marc Rich Foundation for Education, Culture and Welfare. As of 2005, the orchestra is run by the JMC. The professional management of the YIPO is entrusted with Uri Dror, director of the JMC's Programs for String Players; Yossi Arnheim, principal flutist of the IPO, head of the Winds Department at the Buchman-Mehta school of music and head of the JMC's Program for Wind Players; and Zeev Dorman, director of the department for orchestral training at the Buchman-Mehta school of music, principal bassoon player and Board member of the IPO. Yoram Kligman, administrator of the JMC's Programs for String and Wind Players, is in charge of all production, administrative and logistic aspects. In the summer of 2009, the YIPO has worked under the baton of Mr. Zeev Dorman, and been assisted by prominent musicians including string players Nitay Tzori, Hillel Tzori who also assisted in conducting, Koby Rubinstein, Gilad Hildesheim, Carla Maria Rodrigues, Lilach Levanon, and Teddy Kling; wind players Yossi Arnheim, Mauricio Paez, Shirley Brill, Uzi Shalev, Dudu Carmel, Alon Reuven and Yuval Shapira; and percussionist Alon Bor. Special thanks to The Hanan Szuz Foundation, Mr. Bruno Landesberg, The Picker Foundation, the Zemach & Anna Oyserman Foundation and Friends of IPO for their generous support, and naturally to our partners - the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra and the Marc Rich Foundation for Education, Culture and Welfare. Thanks to Irit Rub, director of the KeyNote programme for music education of the IPO, for making the concert at the Mann Auditorium possible.
