Mozart d-minor Fantasie (with cadenza) - Alexander Moravcsik

Mozart never completed his famous d-minor Fantasie. The last 10 bars were added by his publisher. The manuscript we have ends in a dominant "cadenza" chord in A. Various pianists have responded in various ways: Mitsuko Uchida's solution, for example, is to recompose the final 10 bars using material from the opening. My 12-year old son, Alexander Moravcsik, studies both classical and jazz piano, and his solution has been to write a cadenza eventually returning to the chord and the traditional ending. (Thanks to his jazz teacher, Sean Teter, for encouragement.) Here is the result from a recital in Princeton, NJ on 10 December 2011, beginning with a few words from his classical teacher, Esma Filipovic. The cadenza runs from 7'20" to 9'38".
