Dido’s Lament, from Dido and Aeneas, is a heart-wrenching aria from Henry Purcell’s opera. It portrays the sorrow of Dido, who has been abandoned by her lover Aeneas. Her despair leads to her ultimate demise. Despite her pain, she shows compassion for those she leaves behind. In her final words, she asks that her wrongdoings not trouble Aeneas and requests to be remembered but her fate forgotten. This rendition is performed by Emre Sabuncuoglu.
