Edvard Grieg’s “Suite for Brass” was performed by Per Gade’s International Brass Quintet in Japan in 1982. The recording, found recently on a cassette tape, captures the live concert experience without any digital alterations. The suite consists of four pieces, arranged by Per Gade’s friend Philip Jones for his Brass Quintet. Philip Jones, a pioneer in modern classical brass ensembles, founded his Brass Quintet in 1951 and handed the music to Gade during their meeting in Singapore.
