Julia Hamari, a renowned Hungarian performer, is known for her musicality and rich tone. She excels in oratorio and Lieder performances, particularly in Bach’s works. Hamari has collaborated with conductor Karl Richter and participated in numerous recordings of Bach cantatas. Born in Budapest in 1942, she studied voice at the Budapest Academy of Music and won the Erkel competition in 1954. Her concert debut took place in 1966 as the alto soloist in Bach’s St. Matthew Passion.
