Works like “Bamboula,” “Le Bananier,” and “Le Banjo” exemplify this blend, drawing on Creole melodies and rhythms. Gottschalk’s extensive tours across the Americas were marked by his efforts to elevate American music, and he became one of the first globally recognized American composers.
