About the composer…

Carl Philipp Emanuel Bach Carl Philipp Emanuel Bach (1714-1788), a German composer and a key figure in the transition between the Baroque and Classical periods, was the second surviving son of Johann Sebastian Bach. Born in Weimar, C.P.E. Bach was trained by his father in music from an early age. He attended the University of Leipzig, where he studied law, but his passion for music prevailed. He served for nearly three decades as a court musician to Frederick the Great of Prussia in Berlin. Later, he succeeded Telemann as music director in Hamburg.
