This is my favorite orchestral version of the waltz “Roses from the South” by Johann Strauss. It’s performed by the Vienna Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Robert Stolz. Stolz is known as the last composer of the classical Viennese era and his arrangement captures the essence of a Strauss waltz perfectly. This recording is 100% authentic and even surpasses the Vienna Philharmonic’s performance. It was featured as #5 in the New Year’s Concert 2009 in Vienna.
About the composer…

Strauss began his musical career as a violinist in his father’s orchestra. However, he soon realized his passion for composing and conducting.
