Rene Leibowitz (1913-1972) was a renowned conductor, known for his interest in contemporary music and his skill in instrumental coloration. He studied with Webern and Schoenberg and wrote an analysis of twelve-tone music. Leibowitz’s kaleidoscopic transcriptions showcased his talent, including a double orchestra rendition of Bach’s Passacaglia and Fugue in C.
